Colorado Model Railroad Museum
About Colorado Model Railroad Museum
Choo Choo! All aboard! The Colorado Model Railroad Museum is ready to pick up passengers to take a stroll through their incredible 5,500 sq foot operating miniature railroad!
You can actually walk through their three dimensional creation while their miniature trains and components are actually moving and working! Have a look at the attention to detail as you make your way through - can you see through the little windows on the trains? What do the faces on the people tell you? Can you spot all the different colors in the leaves of the trees?
That last one might take you a while, because they have painstakingly created 16,000 fir trees, 8,000 deciduous (do you know what that means?) and 4,000 aspen trees.
Rivers run through the valleys and the towns, and the whole model becomes 3D art. Spend time looking at every aspect, and try and get a sense of if this was a real town, what would it be like? What would it be like to live there? Maybe you can pick the house you would live in - and find the train you would ride to school everyday!
In addition to the spectacular models, they have over 600 artifacts for you to enjoy and learn from - all railroad themed of course! They even have a full-sized Colorado and Southern wooden Caboose for you to enjoy, both inside and out!
And kids - when you arrive ask for thier "Eye-Spy" game! You get to try and find the 5 dinosaurs hidden within the models! But be careful...they frequently move spots!
So whether you are a fan of trains, a fan of models or even a fan or creativity and art, head down to this museum and see for yourself the amount of work that has gone into such a creation!
