Renowened artist Charles M. Russell captured the incredible landscapes, the magical spirit, and the rich culture of the West during the late 1800s and early 1900s within his artwork.
In fact, his artwork is part entertainment, and part history lesson so there is much to enjoy and learn from!
During your time at the C.M. Russell Musuem, you are encouraged to explore our site all of the exhibits, and discover for yourself the life and times of C.M. Russell, along with the legacy of the art that he left behind!
There are a number of exhibits within the C.M. Russell Museum, so really take your time! To learn about the man himself, the Charles M. Russell: The Legacy of America’s Cowboy Artist exhibit celebrates then museum’s extensive permanent collection of oil paintings by Russell himself, as well as watercolors, bronzes, and even clay models! if that wasn't all, you can also find illustrated letters, along with pen-and-ink drawings, plus published illustrations that showcase the astonishing depth and range of the art of Charles M. Russell (1864–1926).
Also at the C.M. Russell Museum, you can the amazing exhibit of The Bison: An American Icon, and what these amazing creatures mean to those who lived on these lands for thousands of years, and even visit the Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame!

Teachers corner
The museum is a great place for students! The museum hosts field trips for day programs, schools, home schools, and Scout groups throughout the year for students in kindergarten through high school. They can adjust tours to accommodate the needs of the class and supplement the school curriculum. Tours for qualified school groups are free. They just ask that groups schedule a tour at least two weeks in advance.
Is C.M. Russell Museum fully accessible?
All museum galleries are accessible to visitors with limited mobility via ramps and elevators, and there are accessible toilets and parking
