About Cleveland Metroparks Zoo
One of Cleveland’s most popular attractions is Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, and it can be the destination for your next Ohio family day out!
The zoo is also one of the city's foremost conservation organizations, and is home to 3,000 animals representing 600 species, and you can have a front row seat to this incredible educational and animal-filled experience.
You can just take your time and enjoy each area of the Zoo at your own pace. The Wilderness Trek is where kids can come face to face with wolves, bear, and the Asian Highlands exhibit. Imagine yourselves in the African Savanna, surrounded by giraffe, ostrich and rhino.
The Circle of Wildlife features the Waterfowl Lake with some stunning birds, as well as the Nature Discovery Ridge Play Area with more educational opportunities for the little ones, with a carousel nearby too for some extra fun!
Don't miss seeing the African Elephant Crossing too, before heading Down Under and seeing some pretty unique creatures from Australia, including the kangaroos and dingo! Did we mention there was a camel ride experience too?
Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is a family-friendly, kid-friendly venue with outdoor and indoor facilities, educational and conservation programming and a great place for families to have adventures and make memories. They also have live animal programs too!
The Zoo’s Education department has programming all year round for kids and families: preschool safaris, family discoveries, teen programs, summer day camps, overnight programs, homeschool programs and many, many more!

Their wildlife conservation efforts protect species today and benefit wildlife, human communities and the habitats we share into the future.

Bathrooms are equipped with baby changing areas.
I’m Hungry! Can I get food at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo?
There are SO many places to fill those rumbling tummies! There are plenty of snack shacks with dippin dots, pretzels and candy. There are subs and pizza in the food court, and hot dogs in the Carousel Cafe. Check out the speciality hot dogs in Matilda's Grill, and a whole host of burgers, chicken fingers, fries and more in the Wilderness Grill! Some of the food outlets are cash only, so be prepared
Any top tips when visiting?
Tip for parents with young children: concession areas do not provide straws or lids for animal safety so you might want to bring "sippy cups" or other non-spillable containers from home.
Does Cleveland Metroparks Zoo have a gift shop?
They have all your favorite Zoo plush animals, logo t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats and mugs and even gifts for the green-conscious members of your family and friends, including fair-trade and organic items.

The Treetops Cafe offers house salads and apple slices, and many places offer bottled water for you!
Is Cleveland Metroparks Zoo fully accessible?
All areas of Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and The RainForest are wheelchair accessible. The Zoo gift shop, Machaba Curios, in the Welcome Plaza has the wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs and strollers for rent (see website). ZooTrams are wheelchair accessible.
Any additonal information?
ZooTram Service .ZooTrams are provided FREE of charge. Enclosed, heated ZooTrams run during the winter when it's really chilly.
