Chimney Rock State Park, featuring the iconic Chimney Rock, has so many things to do for those outdoor and adventure loving families, you might just wish there were two of you to fit it all in! The Park, located 25 miles southeast of Asheville, North Carolina, offers the best of the mountains in one place-spectacular 75-mile views, as well as hiking trails for all ages, a 404-foot waterfall, a variety of special events and much more.

The adventures to be had within Chimney Rock State Park range from mild to the major, and whilst most of it is gentle and very safe, there are a few experiences that might just get your attention!

The trails are a wonderful way to really immerse yourself in the park. They trail map is coded based on the difficulty of the trail, so you can ensure that you are setting out on the one that's the best for your family.

There are even trails designed JUST for kids! The Great Woodland Adventure features 12 super cool discovery station with locally made sculptures that help educate kids on the local wildlife.

Once you've finished on the trail, kids can enjoy the Animal Discovery Den, where real reptiles and amphibians are waiting to make friends!

Kids with still more energy to use up, check out the climbing tower! Challenge themselves developing new skills, and gain a new perspective of Chimney Rock State Park's amazing cliffs!

I’m Hungry! Can I get food at Chimney Rock State Park?

They've got a great menu in the Sky Lounge (open March-November) up top or at the Old Rock Café down in Chimney Rock Village.

Any top tips when visiting?

Wear good shoes, and well-ventilated clothes in warmer climates, take a small backpack and sun protection!

Does Chimney Rock State Park have a gift shop?

Cliff Dwellers Gifts and the Sky Lounge gift shop have gifts and souviners for you to take home! Kids can also win cool prizes by taking part in TRACK Trail adventures, just ask staff for details!

Does Chimney Rock State Park have healthy eating or Vegan options?

Take bottled water as there is nothing on the trails to pick some up, and you are more than welcome to take your own lunch too!

Is Chimney Rock State Park fully accessible?

Although the Chimney itself and the trails are not wheelchair accessible, the view from the upper parking lot is almost as spectacular as the view from atop the Chimney. When the elevator is available, it can take guests up to the Sky Lounge patio level. A wheelchair is available for loan at no charge.

It takes about 1-1.5 hours minimum but you can easily spend a whole day exploring
