About Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

We LOVE animals, and at America's ONLY mountain zoo, you not only get to encounter some incredible creatures, but do so in a magical setting!

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a amazing place for kids AND adults to visit. In addition to all the amazing species of animals, there are some great opportunities to get up close with them too!

There are Zoo Exploration Tours where you will be taken by a zoo team member and share all their behind the scenes stories. There is the eye-opening Animal Care 101 where kids learn how important it is to look after animals int he home, and if they one day want to work in the zoo, try out Zoo Career Day!

For those little animal lovers, there are early childhood programs, as well as early explorers programs which really give kids a kick start on their animal educations. And teens aren't forgotten either! Through experiences like Zoo Crew and Junior Zoo Keeper - great for those kids aged 12 to 17 - they can really learn what it means to take care of animals.

And of course, there are the animals themselves! Where to start! From mammals such as elephants, tigers, lions, monkeys, zebras and wolves, to a whole range of reptiles, fish and birds, kids will really get a sense of what amazing species we share our planet with.

Some of the exhibits at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo are quite interactive too! If you visit My Big Backyard kids get to play on giant plants, and garden furniture, as well as feel the soft fur of a rabbit or a guinea pig. If you love birds, then head on over to the Budgie Buddies exhibit where you can walk among the Australia parakeets and other beautiful birds - they may even eat from your hand!

A beautiful, animal experience with a breathtaking backdrop, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a great family day out option in Denver.
