Captain Hirams
About Captain Hirams
All aboard - we're soon departing for Captain Hirams!
If you just love the water, then you will be spoilt for choice with the activities here. The Indian River gives you a ton of fun water activities for all experience levels, whether you are an adrenaline junkie looking to zoom across the waters in a jet ski, or take things at a slower pace and traverse the rivers waters in your very own kayak - you might even be approached by a dolphin or a manatee! Pretty amazing!
If you want to stay dry yet still enjoy the beautiful waters, then hop aboard the River King Cruises, where you can enjoy Jungle, Nature and Eco Tours of the Indian River Lagoon.
These daily cruises leave from Captain Hirams Marina and sail along the river in all weathers, and keep an eye out for the wildlife! You are very likely to spot playful bottle nose dolphins, pelicans, manatees and an array of water fowl!
The River King also have trips to the Pelican Island Reserve, which is a nature reserve designated as a wildlife refuge, which means that all the pretty bird and animals you see there will happily remain there! Try and be there for sunset when you can witness thousands of birds returning to the island!
The Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge cruise doesn't run in summer, but the other cruises depart at 1pm (Dolphin Watch cruise) and 10am (River Cruise) daily through summer.
You might even spot Alligators and Turtles on the River Cruise - so make sure you take a camera!
It's a great way to learn about the wildlife, and the conservation work the refuge are doing, and most importantly why they are doing it.
