Located in Old Sacramento, the California State Railroad Museum is a complex of historic facilities and unique attractions. Widely regarded as North America's most popular railroad museum, there is something here for everyone! So why not head out and enjoy it for your next family day out, and see for yourselves!
At the California State Railroad Museum, you can explore regularly varying exhibits that cover a wide range with railways as a connecting theme. Guided tours of both the exhibit and railway spaces are available, so if you have lots of questions, or want to know more, you can just ask!
During your time at the museum, you can see real engines and carriages in real life, as well as great artifacts that tell the stories in a more personal way!
Some exhibits will be hands-on, like being able to board a mock-up of a high-speed train, or you can learn about the more intricate part of railway history, such as how they used to communicate with each other.

Wherever possible, access to exhibits is facilitated by wheelchair lifts, two-way video communication systems, and our friendly staff. Certain exhibits and programs have limited accessibility, due to factors such as narrow, historic stairways and door openings on railroad passenger cars.
