About Birds of Vermont Museum

The Birds of Vermont Museum is all about, well birds of Vermont, and it's fascinating!

During your visit at the museum, you can view life-size, accurate woodcarvings of birds, and even a few plants and mammals as well. 

The woodcarvings depict the state's nesting species in their natural habitats, as well as North America's endangered and extinct species, so it's a really great learning experience for the kids!

They can learn about birds, their habitats as well as the environments the live in. They can also observe woodcarvers at work, and find out more about carving tools and techniques. 

Also at the Birds of Vermont Museum are exhibits on wildlife art, where you can check out some amazing works that just might inspire you!

It is a bird museum, so of course you can watch live birds through their viewing windows! Here you can find out what foods and feeders work well for different species, and even stop into the gift shop!

They also have demonstrations, children's activities, bird walks, and other fun programs, so be sure to check their schedule and find out more!

The museum is set in beautiful countryside, so why not get out and hike their trails after your museum experience, and extend your visit to the the green Mountain Audubon center nearby. 

Individuals, families, tour groups, campers, and school groups are all welcome.

I’m Hungry! Can I get food at Birds of Vermont Museum?

You are more than welcome to bring your own food and enjoy it as a picnic!

Any top tips when visiting?

Plan on an hour and a half to two hours inside to see it all. You might prefer your own binoculars, especially if you are going outside. They suggest bug repellent if you plan to wander outside. Photography is permitted.

Does Birds of Vermont Museum have a gift shop?

They carry bird-related books, gifts, feeders, and music in the gift shop. They also have posters, T-shirts, totes, and many things for children!

Teachers corner

They love having school groups and offer curriculum materials that complies with the Vermont Education Standards for the elementary grades. Home schoolers are also very welcome, as are college-student interns.

Is Birds of Vermont Museum fully accessible?
