Bay Country Kayaking
About Bay Country Kayaking
Love the water? You don't always have to go to the ocean to enjoy it! Bay Country Kayaking is a fun open to still get you out on the water, get active, AND have a great time!
They are a family owned and operated kayak tour company - in fact an eco-tour company - that was started so they could share their love of the beautiful Virginia waters with families just like yours!
The eco-tours are a great way for the kids to be educated on the cultural, ecological, and historical significance of the waterways, whilst getting that exercise! The tour company are based in Gloucester, and are on the Eastern Shore of the state, so they are available to a number of regions like Jamestown and Yorktown, as well as Wiliamsburg. So no excuses - a family day out can be experienced for everyone!
The tours that leave from New Quarter Park in Williamsburg depart only minutes from Colonial Williamsburg. The area there is particularly pretty because the tidal wetlands cover the area, and the tidal creek actually empties into the York River, AND one of the major rivers into Chesapeake Bay!
The Queens Creek gives you amazing access to swamps and marshes, so get ready to spot some wildlife! Did you think deer would be around marshes and swamps? Yep! As well as crabs, birds, muskrat and otters.
You guide on the tours will share with you all about how the waterway is actually also steeped in the history of the USA's Colonial and Civil War eras! Didn't think you would be getting a history lesson while you were there, did you!
If you are a beginner, no need to be nervous! The tour is actually perfect or beginners as it doesn't go out into exposed bodies of water.
We haven't even begun on all the other tours that Bay Country Kayaking offers! So check them out and get out into the stunning wilderness of Virginia!
