Setting sail with tradition and style since 1986. The American Rover is a 150 passenger Three-Masted Topsail Schooner offering daily 2 Hour Harbor and Sunset cruises under sail on the smooth waters of the Elizabeth River. Guests are free to lend a hand with the sails, take a turn at the helm, or just sit back and relax as the captain points out the sights of the historic Norfolk Harbor. This elegant sailing ship with her distinctive red sails is Coast Guard certified and inspected for safety. Ample comfortable seating is available on the shaded upper deck and there is ship store and bar in the spacious, air-conditioned below deck area. 2 Hour Harbor Cruise Adults $28 Children $18 Lend a hand setting the sails, take a turn at the helm, or simply sit back and enjoy the cruise as the Captain points out the highlights of the Norfolk Harbor: The Downtown Norfolk and Portsmouth Skylines, Battleship Wisconsin, BAE and Metro Machine Shipyards, Portsmouth Naval Hospital, NOAA Headquarters, Portsmouth Marine and SeaLand Container Terminals, Norfolk Southern Coal Piers, Old Fort Norfolk and more. We may also see Navy Ships, Tugboats, Private Yachts and even the occasional dolphin. This daytime cruise is our most popular for kids and families.

2 Hour Sunset Cruise Adults $40. Both fun and romantic, the sunset cruise is the perfect way to spend an evening. After the captain does a short tour of some of the sights of the Elizabeth River things are turned over to one our ships’s musicians who will keep you entertained as you enjoy a smooth, relaxing The evening cruise is our most popular for adults, couples, groups of friends and company outings.
