There are so many magical creatures that live in our waters, it's always so fun to discover and explore what they are. It really is like a whole different world! That's were the ABQ BioPark Aquarium comes in! This ABQ BioPark Aquarium is right next to the Rio Grande in New Mexico's capital city, and is part of the ABQ BioPark.
Here, you can take a fascinating journey down the might Rio Grande river, from Albuquerque to the Gulf of Mexico, and uncovering all the amazing creatures that live there along the way!
The aquarium is filled with exhibits that showcase the wonders of the waters. Kids can explore the coral reefs - the ocean's most colorful land diverse ecosystem.
Families can explore why shipwrecks make great homes for marine organisms - and you can learn some history, too!
Of course, what would an aquarium be without a shark tank! Here, you can see those super predators up close, as well as discover sea turtles, eels, rays, and other amazing creatures.
Kids can see the stunning animals that live in the South Pacific, or be mesmerized by the strange and graceful jellyfish - often known as the Aliens from the Sea!
For that hands on fun, kids always get a SPLASH out of the touch pool, where rays, fish, invertebrates are all there to be explored, met up close, and stroked! Exciting!
It's a day of exploring under the ocean, without even getting wet!

I’m Hungry! Can I get food at ABQ BioPark Aquarium?
It's not just the sharks that need feeding! The Shark Reef Cafe is a full-service restaurant with breakfast and lunch, including burgers, burritos, pancakes and more!
Any top tips when visiting?
You can pick up a combo ticket which gives you admission to the aquarium, as well as the zoo, botanic gardens and unlimited train rides. With single admission, the trains are $3, and other activities have their own admission cost
Does ABQ BioPark Aquarium have a gift shop?
There of course is a gift shop that has gifts, film garden tools, souvenirs and other fun items!
Teachers corner
There are evening programs, spring break camps, overnight stays, preschool programs and other great ways the kids can learn!
Does ABQ BioPark Aquarium have healthy eating or Vegan options?
There are salads and sandwiches in the cafe. No outside food or drink to be brought in
