Each animal has a story to tell, and at a family attraction like Papanack Zoo, kids can learn all about them!
Papanack Zoo is just a short drive from Ottawa, and is filled with exotic wildlife that can teach kids all about their habits and habitats. Their goal is to provide these beautiful animals with a caring and safe living space, whilst allowing families to come and enjoy, and learn, all about them.
Spend a day wandering around the enclosures, coming face to face with some of the most beautiful creatures on the planet!
You can take a stroll along the Nature Trail and visit the tigers and snow leopards or stop for an ice cream and watch the lemurs at play. Plus, Papanack Zoo has a host of events and experiences that will give you something you won't forget!
Did you know that every Saturday night from Labor Day to Thanksgiving, you can see the lions feast and hear the wolves howl as you tour the zoo as night falls? These night safari's open their gates at 6:30pm, and then you can enjoy the Guided Torch Light Tour. This is great for kids who want to experience those rarely seen nocturnal animals.
Don't miss the story-telling around the campfire, hot chocolate in hand either!
Grandparents, you get your own time too with the Seniors Safari, where you can take to their Senior Safari Bus and enjoy a guided tour and complimentary food to feed the barnyard animals!
There are also great camps for those younger ones, including the Zoo Keeper Camp where they can learn what it really takes to work at a zoo like Papanack.

I’m Hungry! Can I get food at Papanack Zoo?
There is a reasonably priced Snack Bar with hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, pizza, poutine, ice cream and drinks. We know its not the lions that just need feeding!
Any top tips when visiting?
Bring your wellies, if it has been raining.
Does Papanack Zoo have a gift shop?
They sell t-shirts, hats, coats, mugs, soft toys, toys, buttons, pens, batteries, snacks, animal food and icecreamcold drinks in our gift shop so you might want to bring that pocket money!
Teachers corner
They offer guided tours at no extra charge for school groups as well as a group rate - so why wouldn't you bring the students to learn all about the creatures on our planet!

Does Papanack Zoo have healthy eating or Vegan options?
There are salads and veggie burgers available so if you want to be healthy. You can also bring your own picnic if you like! Make sure you bring your own water too, as there are no drinking fountains, just bottled water to purchase.
Is Papanack Zoo fully accessible?
They have wheelchair accessible washrooms. Their facilities are all grass, but most of their visitors do not have trouble with wheelchairs.
