Here's a quick quiz! What is the first university art gallery in Canada? Well, if you said Owens Art Gallery, you'd be right! This historic art gallery opened all the way back in 1895, and can be found on the campus of the Mount Allison University.
You know what else is cool about the Owens Art Gallery? The admission, and the programs, are all FREE!
This art gallery is a great way for the older kids to experience art in all it's forms. It's not just painting!
The collection itself has over 3200 works of art, from photographs, to prints, multi-media, prints and sculptures. Kids - did you know art covered so many genres?
The exhibitions change too, so every time you visit there might be something new to experience.
Kids can also be inspired too, being in the university environment - the gallery is also manned by students too, so they can realize what is possible in their later education.
The exhibitions often cover local artists too, which is great for them to recognize how much talent really is in the country! Perhaps one day their work will be featured!
With learning and events too, it's an art-tastic day out for the kids in Sackville. And you never know - a Picasso may just be hiding in your family!
