Ivvavik National Park
About Ivvavik National Park
Ivvavik National Park is the first national park in Canada to be created as a result of an aboriginal land claim agreement. The park protects a portion of the calving grounds of the Porcupine caribou herd and represents the Northern Yukon and Mackenzie Delta natural regions.
There are plenty of canyons and mountain valleys to explore, which take you from the park's interior all the way to the Arctic Ocean! If you fly into the base camp you can enjoy a multi-day arctic adventure, with fishing, hiking and all of your meals catered.
There's plenty of open terrain and wildlife to discover, and it's a great hiking experience. You'll be able to sport birds and enjoy the changing landscape as you travel across the mountains. Remember that you are in bear country though!
At the Parks Canada office you can register for trips, purchase fishing permits and pick up any gifts and grab a coffee!
