About Highland Village Museum
Highland Village Museum is a living museum and cultural centre that celebrates the Gaelic experience in Nova Scotia. On a 43-acre hillside overlooking the world renowned Bras dOr lakes, it celebrates the story, language and living culture of the Nova Scotia Gaels.
The costumed animators will help you to experience the history of the settlement and the unique culture with lots of things to discover and explore. Take a tour up the hill and walk through the period buildings, filled with artifacts. Sit and enjoy the views whilst listening to their annual Highland Village Day concert which features traditional music, songs and dances too.
Experience the blacksmith working his forge, or watch the animators spinning weaving, wool-dying and other hand-crafts, as well as seeing how they farm the animals! There will be meals cookings and viewscapes to enjoy that really help immerse you into the culture. You can interact with the farm animals and see the traditional gardens too, as well as learning some traditional phrases and mastering techniques!
There's a gift shop on site which seels a range of books, clothings and giftware from local makes and will be a great souvenir to remember your special day by.
