Fort Langley National Historic Site of Canada
About Fort Langley National Historic Site of Canada
Fort Langley National Historic Site of Canada is the exact location where, a century and a half ago, a huge fur trade organization called the Hudson's Bay Company established a small post to trade with the First Nations of the West Coast. The enterprise grew, evolved, and influenced history, leading to the creation of the colony of British Columbia.
You'll discover the varied and rich culture and history as you explore the timber buildings that once were homes and life in the 1800s. You'll find so many children's activities here at this site, with them changing each year! The children's play area will let imaginations run wild. At the trade window you can pretend to trade salmon, pack toy barrels with salmon and roll them into the boats and the magnetic map will allow children to explore the resources that drew the fur traders to the area. There's also a dedicated toddler area with soft flooring.
You'll also find the mascot Park roaming around too, she's got a fun scavenger hunt to share with you too! There's also a playhouse which is a fort built from the onsite timber and you'll get to slide and climb the ladder into the loft. There's also lots of costumes to try on too inside! In the Summer you can visit the farm animals and heritage garden and maybe even feed a few of them too!
