About Devonian Botanic Garden

With 190 acres to explore, the University of Alberta Devonian Botanic Garden has something to appeal to plant enthusiasts, nature-lovers, families and anyone seeking to spend a few idyllic hours in beautiful natural surroundings.

Out of the city (but only minutes away), the Garden features 80 acres of display gardens and 110 additional acres of natural areas and ecological preserves.Indoor display greenhouses, a butterfly house, outdoor displays of annuals and perennials, the Kurimoto Japanese Garden, rose, lilac and peony collections, herb gardens, a native peoples' garden, extensive alpine garden, sensory and healing garden and more.

The garden is award-winning and there's lots to see and do. Explore the secluded dorest paths, fgranite and limestone terraces and the still pools that reflect the sky. The showhouse contains exotic butterflies and indigenous people's garden and an extensive alpine garden and much more. 

There's a wide diversity of flowers, and the plants here are ones those suitable for a cold northe climate, including lots of fruits, vegetables and shrubs to explore.
