Claybank Brick Plant National Historic Site is cradled in the hills of southern Saskatchewan there exists a splendid example of early 20th century industrialism. The Claybank Brick Plant remains frozen in time, virtually unchanged from the day it opened in 1912. Now, you'll find an Interpretive Centre and Bunkhouse Cafe which is open for visitors and you'll also be able to explore the surrounding area too!
The bricks manufactured here graces lots of prestigious buildings across Saskatchewan as wel as other areas and adorns buildings such as the Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City, along with others! The fire brick was also used in construction of the rocket launch pads at Cape Canaveral in Florida.
Explore the scenic wildlife lands which are next to the site and follow the adventurous trails, whilst doing a bit of wildlife spotting near the Mossold Clay Canyons. The building is not suitable to go inside due to the age and structures, but you'll be able to take pictures from the outside and explore the other areas.
There are videos of the workings of the plant in the Interpretive Centre too if you wanted to learn more and there's a Bunhouse Cafe for a delicious pie and meal whilst you're visiting.
