About Atlantic Salmon Museum

Atlantic Salmon Museum houses a very extensive collection of artifacts and interpretive displays that tell the story of the sport of fly fishing and the life and history of the Atlantic salmon. Programs such as Adopt-a-salmon and fishing camps for youth, make learning fun for participants.

The museum opened to the public in 1983, and it celebrates the importance of the Atlantic salmon, not only as a valuable resource that deserves our protection but how it has had a profound effects on anglers all over the world! The museum celebrates the Miramichi way of life through a collection of fishing memorabilia which has been donatied by local fishermen.

There are more than 5,000 artifacts to look at and explore, there's a small aquarium where you can admire the colourful fish and a summer camp program for children. Great if they want to learn more about fishing! The summer camp allows children to aquire new skills, make new friends and gain an appreciation for the natural world behind them. They'll learn about casting, canoe safety, trout and salmon fishing, learn to tie flys, nature hikes, water games and even spend a say canoeing on the river.

As well as this they run regular events throughout the year so make sure you check their website before your visit so you know what's happening when and where!
