About Art Gallery of Nova Scotia

The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia is the largest art museum in Atlantic Canada and the Gallery houses the Province's art collection and offers a range of exhibitions and programming for the whole family to get involved in.

There are lots of exhibitons that change regularly and ones that are permanent. The Shape of Cities is a group exhibition of 20th century paintings and sculptures, alongside 19th century historic prints. Learn how urban environments have affected artistic input and how urban spaces affect our well-being. Art includes abstract, impressionism, modernism and folk art.

The Tyranny exhibition brings together a group of contemporary artists who confront cultural narratives in the world they make. Included are sculptures, videos, paintings and more that search for new and different perspectives whilst revealing truths about the world we live in.

Folk Funk is a whimsical exhibition that looks at the connections between clay artists and folk artists. Realism Reach is all about the many ways artists have responded to or expressed their own realities in their work and they consider the space between perspective and perception.

You'll also find likes of events and programs throughout the year so before you visit remember to check the website to see what's coming up!
