Applewood Shaver House
About Applewood Shaver House
Located in the City of Toronto, Applewood Shaver House is history waiting to be explored. Whilst the property is predonimantly a wedding and events venue, they do offer tours for families by appointment for just a donation - and if you love history, it's worth a visit!
Applewood is actually the birthplace of a man named James Shaver Woodsworth who was actually an exemplary Member of Parliament as well a social reformer!
When you visit this charming 1850's farm house, you'll learn all about Shaver himself, and how the property was saved to preserve his legacy. Applewood Shaver House also happens to be a fine example of early Canadian architecture!
As well as the private tours offers, you can also arrange school tours or group tours. The homestead has now been recognized as an historic building (complete with a plaque!) which is located near the parking lot at the side entrance so make sure you stop and take a look!
So kids, are you ready to not only learn about Canadian history, but also be part of it too!
