About Wollongong Science Centre and Planetarium
The Science Centre has a two story exhibit hall with the exhibits grouped in themes ranging from Energy And Motion to Astronomy. Spread over two-stories it has over 100 interactive exhibits for the kids to get some hands on fascination.
On the same site, The BlueScope Steel Planetarium is the major public planetarium in New South Wales. They offer a range of varying shows for the public, which are always completely visually immersive, fun and educational, as well as being suitable for anyone who can sit still for 45 minutes.
Used on their Discovery evenings, the Observatory is full of exhibits for the daytime too! Explore the cosmos with the sky survey machine, hear the latest news, look at the finest astro photos and even touch a plasma ball! There is also a display showing the real time image of the Sun and its sunspots.
Plus make sure you catch at least one of Entertaining Science Shows in the Illawarra Coal Science Theatre explore the more strikingly interactive fields of science, whether it be inflating gigantic bubbles, freezing objects or just blowing things up! Generally the morning show is particular suited for the youngest children.

I’m Hungry! Can I get food at Wollongong Science Centre and Planetarium?
The Science Centre has a cafe and kiosk which offer a place to sit and refuel. The kiosk serves a variety of hot foods including sausage rolls, pies, pasties, cheese and spinach rolls and spring rolls. During the school holidays a variety of fresh sandwiches and wraps are also available.
Does Wollongong Science Centre and Planetarium have a gift shop?
The Science Centre Shop has been designed to reflect the activities throughout the Science Centre and is a popular destination for visitors to the Centre itself or for members of the public who simply wish to shop. The shop carries an extensive range of science products. From tiny dinosaur erasers to telescopes, super balls to microscopes, slime to large Galileo thermometers, beautiful jewellery: the shop has items for teaching, exploring, learning or just for fun.

Star Trails brings science shows to your school. A high quality portable planetarium is also available which uses the latest full dome projection equipment to create visually spectacular and highly informative presentations.
