The Western Australian Museum in Albany is all about giving kids a fun learning experience through exhibitions and programs. At the museum, you can read about the unique natural and social history of Western Australia, and everything that makes it great!
Each exhibit covers a different theme or event, and it's worth allowing a few hours to really explore everything it has to offer.
Kids - do you know much about the early settlers and convicts of the region? Now is your chance! You can also explore the unique natural landscape, fauna and flora of the region too. It's pretty special!
The Western Australian Museum also shares important stories from the indigenous Noongar people, as well as the influence of Mokare who was a young Noongar warrior. A beautiful way for kids to be inspired in life!
There are permanent exhibitions within the museum, so you can always go back to your favorite. Kids can enjoy hands on, interactive fun at the Discovery Centre, or kids can experience learning in an old one teacher school room. Kids - t's must different to what you are used to these days! Can you imagine sitting with your friends on those wooden desks?
The Western Australian Museum also has temporary exhibits, so there is always something new for you to explore on your next visit. These topics have ranged from War at Sea, to Mudlark Metals!

There are plenty of places in the area to enjoy some food before or after your visit!
Any top tips when visiting?
They have regular events and clubs which are great for kids, as well as Tuesday Curatorials at 10;30am through the school term, with great discussions on Albany life! Kids might also like to join the Young Naturalists Club!
Does Western Australian Museum Albany have a gift shop?
The Museum Shop is where your history adventure can keep going at home by picking up some fun gifts and educational items!

Why not bring the students! They love having school groups, so take the history lesson out of the classroom for the day!
Is Western Australian Museum Albany fully accessible?
Guide dogs are welcome. The site is accessible and have a complimentary wheelchair available. There are no universal access toilets. There is a larger handled toilet in the staff area you can use
