About Tondoon Botanic Garden

Visited by over 100,000 a year, Tondoon Botanic Garden specialises in recreating tropical, sub tropical and dry rainforest environments great for family exploration. So grab those walking shoes, it's time to explore!

Officially opened in 1988, the Tondoon Botanic Gardens feature a tranquil balance made up of naturally displayed gardens that overlook Lake Tondoon, all nestled into the undulating landscape of Mount Biondello.

It's a place of learning, inspiration and relaxation, and great for kids to explore!

The Visitor Centre is a great place to start so you want find out information on all the walking trails, features, and facilities within the botanic gardens. 

Throughout the year the gardens host special events JUST for kids, so make sure you keep an eye out for these! They might be enjoying crafts one day, then cooking another, and then art the next! 

They also host free Kids Gardens Tours too, where knowledgable guides journeys past butterflies, birds, and bush tucker, ready to answer any questions they may have! 

Kids can also have fun on the Children's Trail, with a fun colouring booklet can take them on an educational journey through the gardens. 

Adults, you won't miss out either. The whole family can enjoy the free weekly tours through the most picturesque sections of the gardens, as you learn about the history and the ecosystems if everything that surrounds you.

I’m Hungry! Can I get food at Tondoon Botanic Garden?

The Gardens Cafe is open 7 days a week, and is a great place to grab some food and drinks during your nature filled adventure!

Any top tips when visiting?

When visiting the Gardens, they recommend that you wear comfortable walking shoes, hat, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Pets aren't permitted in the gardens.

Teachers corner

Private school tours can be organised for during the week, and be sure to mention any areas of interest that you want to cover!

Does Tondoon Botanic Garden have healthy eating or Vegan options?

Picnic tables, seating, and barbecues are available to the public free of charge. These picnic areas are located near the playground and the arboretum shelter at the front of the Gardens. So why not bring your own food!
