The Wax Museum
About The Wax Museum
Have you ever wanted to come face to face with Captain Cook? Or perhaps today's Prime Minister? Maybe even Kylie Minogue!
At The Wax Museum you can meet all your favourite famous people who made history: Movie Stars, Scientists, Explorers, Villains and World Leaders. Each one is right in front of you, only they are made of wax! Have a look up close - can you see the startling realism? Amazing! They are also dressed in authentically reproduced costumes of their times to really capture the atmosphere!
The main exhibit - World In Wax - provides a series of snapshots of the people who have shaped (and continue to shape!) our lives.
Think you know your Australian History? It's a great game to play as you walk round, to see who you recognise and guess what they did! This exhibit also has dioramas of Nursery Rhymes, Replicas of the Crown Jewels and Fantasia Macabre, a unique and little seen collection of mythical characters from fiction like the spooky and mysterious Count Dracula, Frankenstein Monster, The Thing, The Zombie, The Werewolf and many other creatures from Legend, folklore and literature! Who are your favourites? Do you know their stories?
Assuming you're taking children beware The Chamber of Horrors! It is a grim, staggering record of Human Cruelty throughout the ages, much more affecting than one would expect from waxworks and with subject matter utterly unsuitable for kids under 10.
More spine chilling than fiction, is the only display of its kind in the world! If you have older kids though, it is certainly an exhibit that, next time they feel hard done by, will remind them that they don't have it so bad!
The Wax Museum is a fascinating day out for the family in Surfers Paradise, and one that will throw off your reality a bit when you meet your idols!
