The Big Golden Guitar
About The Big Golden Guitar
Their 12m high, half tonne 'golden' guitar is one of Australia's most photographed icons and a highly popular tourist stop, especially for country music lovers. You can't not visit Tamworth without getting a selfie in front of the iconic guitar can you?! The most recognised attraction is completley free and will make for a great family portrait.
Tamworth is the country music capital. You'll find a country music trail, the national guitar museum and a country music wax museum which features the likes of Smoky Dawson and Chad Morgan.
If you're visiting in January, then you'll be able to check out the Tamworth Country Music Festival. Featuring hundreds of performers from across Tamworth, you don't need to be a huge country music fan, as it has something for everyone and the whole family.
Did you know that the Big Golden Guitar doesn't close? It's open every day of the day and at any times, however some of the complex does on certain days, so remember to check before you visit.
