About Taronga Western Plains Zoo

A zoo is always an exciting experience for the kids, but what if the animals weren't in small enclosures, but rather in natural bushland and large open style exhibits - almost like a safari!

Taronga Western Plains Zoo is just that! Located in Central West Dubbo, this amazing zoo is home to hundreds of amazing animals from all across the globe. The world of animals has literally come to YOU!

The zoo has a huge number of fascinating and amazing species that the kids can experience and learn all about, as they can see most of the animals exhibiting their own natural behaviours.

There is a 6km circuit that you can drive around to really have some amazing encounters. Kids can get up close to a big car, or drop in on those cheeky meerkats. They can even learn why hippos are such good swimmers! (Why do you think that is?)

Taronga Western Plains Zoo really is a truly special experience for the family.

There are a number of programs and experiences that are really wonderful for kids. The giraffe encounters is a fun way to see how they measure up to those tallest creatures on earth! They can even personally feed them from their own hands - that's pretty amazing!

The Wild Africa Encounters is perfect if you want an exclusive behind the scenes tour that will take you up close to those iconic African animals, and kids can learn about those critically endangered animals such as the White Rhinos.

Want to get close to a meerkat? Then just check out the Meerkat Encounters! A cheeky experience for all!

These special encounters are an extra cost but are unforgettable!

Have a safari style zoo encounter in Dubbo...and impressive experience for all!
