The South Australian Aviation Museum is a must visit for any families who love LOVE aviation! This impressive museum (also known as SAAM) is home to a large collection of historically significant items all relating to the fascinating Australian aviation history, with a focus on South Australian aviation history.
Many of the items are in storage, but you can also see a number of items on display all set out in easy to navigate exhibit areas.
The South Australian Aviation Museum has 27 aircraft on public display where kids can actually go up and see aircraft with their very own eyes!
The museum also has a large collection of Aircraft Parts, with some over 100 years old! How amazing is that!? Many historically significant parts are on view in their themed displays, as well as a host of memorbilia including uniforms, badges, medlas and insignia.
They even have a Blue Steel, Ikara, Matra R-530 and Seawolf on display as well as a number of Woomera Test Rockets in their 'Rockets in the Desert' exhibit!
With so much history, aviation, memorabilia and family fun awaiting you, the South Australian Aviation Museum is filled with so many exciting historical items to delve into, you'll be flying high with family fun!

Once or twice a year, they will hold an engine run and open cockpit day. Just keep an eye on their facebook page for the latest news!
Does South Australian Aviation Museum have a gift shop?
The SAAM Shop is located in the entrance foyer and has a wide range of aviation-related items for sale. Shop items include, but are not limited to: artwork, books and CDs (new and pre-loved), models, kits and novelty merchandise.
The Museum Entry Fee is not required if you wish to purchase items from the shop without entering the display hangars.
Teachers corner
If you are bringing a group or would like a guided tour, just contact them and make a booking!
Tours can be small group or large group (more than 1 tour guide).
