Reach the stars at the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium with your family!

This amazing destination thanks to Brisbane City Council is located within the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha, and features a host of entertaining and informative shows for kids and adults alike!

Whilst the shows have a charge, the planetarium itself is free admission so you can go and enjoy the exhibits and learn all about the planets, the stars and our Universe!

For the Cosmic Shows, all general audience and children's shows include two parts. You can enjoy the main feature as well as a tour of Brisbane's night sky by the Planetarium's astronomers. How cool is that!?

Dating back to its opening in 1978, the Planetarium is home to the Cosmic Skydome which is an incredibly impressive 12.5-metre-diameter projection dome.

The Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium also includes an observatory, gift shop and Sundial Courtyard.

It's an amazing way for kids to learn about all the wonders and the mysteries of our solar system and beyond!

Teachers corner

A visit to the Planetarium is a very effective way for students to learn about the Universe! The facility consists of both the Cosmic Skydome and extensive astronomy and space exploration displays in the Display Zone.

Their astronomers provide services to help teach a broad range of astronomy topics.

The Planetarium's flexible school programs assist in covering the Australian Curriculum, including the motions of the day/night sky and the Solar System, and more.
