During your time at the Queensland Maritime Museum (or QMM), the whole family can uncover the stories of historic vessels, and yes, the museum is VERY child and family friendly!
Kids especially enjoy exploring their HUGE exhibits such as the warship Diamantina and the lugger Penguin!
There is so much to see, discover and learn, and in fact a visit to this super cool museum will allow you to understand how Queensland has actually been shaped by maritime history through the various stories you can see exhibits on.
You can learn about the history and importance of lighthouses, as well as sailing in Queensland. Uncover the fascinating events of Naval history, and even Brisbane's American years!
You can see ship models, learn about the pearling industry, and even the history of steam power is covered at the Queensland Maritime Museum.

Do they have baby facilities?
A Baby Change Room is available on the ground floor of the Museum’s main building.
I’m Hungry! Can I get food at Queensland Maritime Museum?
A number of restaurants and cafes are located within the South Bank Parklands precinct, serving a wide variety of food styles. Water, cold drinks, ice-creams, and some snacks can be purchased at QMM’s entrance.
Teachers corner
The Museum welcomes visits by school groups, either independently or as part of a structured maritime history experience.
Visits may be programmed as part of a day excursion, which includes studies of the City. Include a refreshments stop in the picnic area overlooking the Brisbane River during your visit!

A Baby Change Room is available on the ground floor of the Museum’s main building.
Is Queensland Maritime Museum fully accessible?
QMM has ramp or lift access in most parts of the museum – inside the building and in its grounds (although there is some rough ground in places). Disabled access onto HMAS Diamantina is restricted to the main deck while no disabled access is possible into the Dry Dock, or onto their vessel Penguin.
Just contact the Museum with any concerns or special needs and we will try our best to meet those needs.

Membership to The Queensland Maritime Museum Association is a great way to support the objectives of the Museum and the programs it runs. Members also participate in the day-to-day running of the Museum.
