About Queen Victoria Art Gallery

Queen Victoria Art Gallery has an extensive fine, colonial and decorative arts collections to explore with the family, within a 120 old building. Long term and temporary exhibitions are available a wide range of interests are covered in appealing manners accessible to children.

Their volunteer Gallery Guides facilitate free 30-minute guided tours on Sundays at 11am and 2pm from May to November. Free with no booking required too!

View the past and present with the new permanent exhibition! The collection has old and new artworks that delve into our past and encourages visitors to embrace news perspectives. 

When taking the stairs, you'll see it's now home to video artwork! 

The moving scenes of treats, smoke and looping represent the ancient culture that exisited before European settlements. It's definitley an immerserve experience!

The other permanent exhibition is the First Tasmanians: our story. This contains rarely-seen riginal objects and Tasmanian Aboriginal perspectives on climate changes, science and architecture. Something that all ages and generations will appreciate.
