About Kalbarri National Park

There are some truly stunning landscapes within Australia, and Kalbarri National Park is absolutely one of them!

Kalbarri National Park actually surrounds the lower edges of the Murchison River. The Murchison River over time has cut an incredibly breathtaking 80km gorge through the red and white banded sandstone.

Don't miss a chance to really take in this sight on the Kalbarri Skywalk, perched right on the cliff top which jut out over the gorge. The views from the Skywalk are unforgettable.

There are a number of ways you can explore Kalbarri National Park, but as with any trip out into the Australian deserts, go prepared.

Grab those hiking boots and explore one of the hiking trails leading you down into the gorge where you can see the colour and magnificence of the natural area.

What's really beautiful is that on the coast you'll see the effects of wind and wave erosion which have created impressive cliffs plunging 100m to the ocean - the views up there are amazing too!

Take your camera as you'll want to capture the wildflowers which are exceptional in spring and early summer. At the mouth of the Murchison River you'll find the actual town of Kalbarri, which is a thriving fishing and tourism hub. Kalbarri town is a great base for you to explore the park from.

If you choose to hike or stay overnight, you must register with the park headquarters before you depart.

With sightseeing, picnicking, abseiling, rafting and even canoeing, there is so much to see, do and explore at Kalbarri National Park - just make sure you give yourselves as much time as you can to experience it all!
