George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens span 42 hectares and are renowened for their collections of north Australian and other tropical species!
It's a wonderful free admission experience when in Darwin with the family! There are so many things to see and do, plus some super fun activities JUST for kids!
Why not walk through the rainforest and see a real life waterfall? There are various types of butterflies in the sensory garden waiting to say hello, and you can even see the tallest fountain in the Darwin area!
Don't miss a chance to take a photo of the 9m crocodile sculpture in the Africa Madagascar garden too!
Kids are very welcome to ride bikes and scooters on the garden paths, or play games on the heritage lawn.
They might want to climb up the birdcage tree house in the children’s playground too, or play on the viking swing! Don't miss a chance to get a bird ID sheet from the Visitor and Event Centre and tick off the birds they see OR they might want to find the five dinosaurs in the Cycad Garden!

Eva's Cafe is a great place to stop by and grab something to eat!
They are open 8am to 3pm weekdays, and 7am to 3pm weekends
Any top tips when visiting?
There are two seasonal changes in the gardens:
wet season - October to May
dry season - May to October.
Does George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens have a gift shop?
There is a great gift shop selling local NT products! Open 9am - 5pm daily but closed certain holidays such as Easter, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day
Does George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens have healthy eating or Vegan options?
There are healthy options in the cafe, but there are also picnic tables and BBQ facilities if you want to bring your own food too!
Is George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens fully accessible?
There are pathways suitable for wheelchairs but give the a call if you have specific questions
