Cockington Green Gardens
About Cockington Green Gardens
Cockington Green Gardens is a great option for your family day out if you just love the outdoors, gardens, nature and everything that goes with them.
The park is always growing, so there is always a reason to go back! They opened in 1979 and have since been one of Canberra's landmark attractions. They are also award winning - pretty cool!
The highlight for most visitors (and especially kids!) is the meticulously crafted miniature buildings. They are set among the landscaped gardens and look so real! Have a look at the detail - can you see the little windows? What can you see in the gardens?
You might see the quaint thatched village of Cockington (which the Cockington Green Gardens was named after), or perhaps you might gravitate towards the imposing Baraemar Castle in Scotland? They look so realistic! Every wanted to see Stonehenge? You can here! There is even a proper footy matching being played (complete with it's own streaker!)
The gardens themselves at Cockington Green Gardens are quite an attraction too. They originally were just to be part of the miniature houses, but they have transformed into a display and attraction of their own. Almost 35,000 flowers on display!
From miniature houses to miniature trains - but this one you can actually ride yourself! It is a half size replica of the Fowler Cane Loco and can be enjoyed by family members of any age! Choo Choo...All aboard!
Also in the park you can visit the indoor Rose Room exhibition features a 34 room Dolls House, or grab a coffee in the cafe. Why not really make a day of it and bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the grounds and the little ones can use up some more of that energy (that we know they have!) on the nearby playground.
