Cape Byron Lighthouse Conservation Area
About Cape Byron Lighthouse Conservation Area
Why not take a day out to Australia's most easterly point!? For over a century, Cape Byron Lighthouse was used to save ships who came towards this country's harsh coast.
Now, it's lamp still shine bright across the bay, and YOU can be a part of it all! Take a guided tour to the top and have a look at the incredible views of the ocean and coast.
Grab some lunch at Cape Cafe, relax, and enjoy the panoramic views of the ocean. You can even spot Byron Bay! You know what else you might spot? WHALES!
Whales often frequent the area and you might be lucky enough to watch one breach out of the water! (That's where they jump really far up - normally the humpback whale!)
There are also stunning walking tracks along the coast so if you can't get enough of the view from the lighthouse, you can check out more!

If you are feeling that little bit more adventurous, you can actually get out into the ocean! There is great diving in the area, as well as snorkelling (which is great for the kids) and kayaking to really explore those nooks and crannies.
A good idea is to start your day at the Cape Byron State Conservation Area which is at the Visitor Centre. You can check out all there is to offer, and they'll help you really plan the best day you could ask for!
If you did want to hang glide or surf, they are available from independent operators in the park.
Have a great family day out!
