About Canberra Museum and Gallery

Art galleries and museums don't just have to be places where kids must keep their hands to themselves, and stay very quiet.  Shhh...you're in a museum....

Not at all! The Canberra Museum and Gallery has a special selection of programs for kids and their families, which offer a variety of learning experiences for kids, which put an emphasis on art and history. They also make sure they don't leave out any fun!

The first or second Sunday or every month, they offer afternoons of structured workshops which are led by local artists. Perfect for kids aged 4 to 12, each session has different themes so you can keep going back!

They have toddler friendly workshops for those little artists and their carers where they can explore through interactive play, which means...yep, they can get messy! They can enjoy painting and water-based play, and really let their imaginations run away with them!

During the school holidays, the Canberra Museum and Gallery also make sure there are a host of programs to keep those little ones entertained when not in school. These can be from art classes to gardening and growing their own vegetables!

For those kids aged 4 to 10 wanting some downtime, they will always have the Activity Tables and Reading Corner to head to.  Perfect for quiet play and catching up on the latest books.

Of course, if the older kids want to explore the rest of the museum and galleries, they are more than welcome.  The exhibits are constantly changing so there will always be something new for you to see!

Unleash the inner artist...you never now, there might be a hidden Picasso in you!
