There are hundreds of amazing aquatic creatures on display here, including turtles, rays, sharks, fish and octopus. There are also interactive displays where kids can feed kangaroos, wallabies, koala bears and crocodiles. Older visitors will enjoy learning about the struggles the environment faces due to climate change and other man-made threats.

What is there to do?
The Cairns Aquarium has a daily program of events, shows and tours. Check their website for a full schedule. Children will enjoy the interactive tour and walk-through aquarium. Adults will enjoy the guided tour that takes you through the aquarium and tells you all about the aquatic animals. The aquarium has a gift shop and cafeteria. You can also book a behind-the-scenes tour to learn more about marine life and how the aquarium works.
Do they have baby facilities?
The aquarium is child-friendly and has strollers available for rental. Keep in mind that strollers are not allowed in the saltwater exhibits.

Any top tips when visiting?
The Australian Tropical Reef - This is the largest exhibit at the aquarium and features hundreds of species of fish and coral. The aquarium is one of only a few aquariums in Australia that has reef exhibits. Waters of the South Pacific - This exhibit features over 100 species of colorful marine life, including turtles, sea snakes, sharks, tropical fish and coral. Rainforest Reptiles - This exhibit features snakes, lizards and frogs from the ecosystem of Northern Queensland. The Amazon River Gallery - This is a rainforest habitat with a variety of tropical fish, birds, plants and reptiles. Antarctic Experience - This exhibit recreates the icy conditions of the Antarctic Ocean, with penguins and seals. Shell Beach - This exhibit features a tropical beach environment with a variety of marine life, including sea turtles and a giant clam.
Does Cairns Aquarium have a gift shop?
The gift shop has a wide selection of souvenirs and gifts, including t-shirts and stuffed animals. You can also purchase a combined admission ticket to the butterfly sanctuary and rainforest walk.
