We just LOVE a great wildlife experience here at Family Days Out, and Billabong Sanctuary Townsville certainly offer just that.Set across 25 acres of tropical bushland, Billabong Sanctuary are home to your favorite Australian animals, from koalas, to snakes, wombats, crocodiles and more! Within the park, not only can you see these amazing creatures, but learn about them too AND enjoy highly interactive wildlife experiences!

Yes kids, you can enjoy handling opportunities with all the animals we listed above, and more! You can pat a koala, and even tickle a wombat's toes. Have you ever wrapped yourself in a friendly snake, or held a baby crocodile? You can here!

From feeding a Cassowary to feeding the turtles, and much much more, it's a wonderful experience for kids as they get to really interact with some of the creatures that make Australia so unique.

There are walk through free ranging enclosures for kangaroos and wallabies which are quite tame and there are excellent family photos to be had throughout.

Also at Billabong Sanctuary Townsville are feedings and shows, to add to your WILD educational day out in Queensland.

Blinky Bill’s licenced Café is open all day, and offers freshly made light meals, Devonshire tea and coffee, cold drinks and yummy desserts, plus burgers and sandwiches

Any top tips when visiting?

When you arrive, check the times of the shows and feedings for that day so you can plan your day around what you want to see!

Does Billabong Sanctury Townsville have a gift shop?

There is also a Gift Shop stocked with a wide range of souvenirs of your visit and gifts for the folks back home. We also sell disposable cameras and batteries.

Teachers corner

You can enjoy the Choose Your Own Adventure Tour where you select 6 native animals, and the ranger talks about and engages with the students, plus interactive experiences and more!
